Artistic Expressions
>> August 27, 2009
I have a spectacular art collection. Chances are, you may have the same collection.
Here's an option.

Do you have a collection like this? Photograph your items as if they were treasured objects (after all they are, aren't they?) Then frame them in simple black frames with wide white mats. You don't even have to have the mats cut professionally. Just purchase your mat and cut to the size of the frame, then center the photo.
You'll be surprised at the results.

tips for editing your blog
I'm certainly no expert on blogging and html, but I'm going to point you to the pages which have been extremely helpful in my constant blogging obsession at waterstone and what's after 29?
- Create a Three-Column Blogger Template This is the one I keep going back to. It's simple to follow and gives you the basic building blocks you will need to get started.
- Link Within - Related post widgets with photo thumbnails. This is fool proof and adds the "You might also like..." widget to the bottom of each post.
- Five Steps to Larger Photos on Blogger from Blue Orchid Blog
- How to install a new template without losing your widgets (sounds like a personal problem, doesn't it? :)
- How to embed a YouTube video on your blog
- How to add a "tweet this" link to your blog
- This one has proven to be invaluable to me. It helps you convert images from pixels to inches or inches to pixels.
- Photobucket - great for resizing and editing photos.
- Same goes for Picnik
- Little owl icon for "Ad-Free Blogs"
- Google Feedburner - Another invaluable tool
- Sitemeter - great for stats.
- How to make your navbar transparent
- Picasa is a free downloadable program that's great for photo editing, collages, etc.
Blog template choices:
- Shabby Blogs
- The Background Fairy
- Smitten Blog Designs
- Our Blogger Templates
- EBlog Templates
- Mashable - Blotter Templates
And finally:
Add a comment if you have a helpful blogging link.
Okay, now go have fun.

Armchair window shopping.
It's the best, don't you think?
For fall.

For when I'm feeling athletic. :)
For my daughter's bathroom. Drool. So cute.
I'll take one of each from Anthropologie,
the place to form a wish list.

Which One? Which One? For Crying Out Loud, Which One?
>> August 22, 2009
Are you having a great weekend? I hope so. If, by chance, you're feeling a bit lazy and are in the mood to peruse the internet, then I need your help. If you're in a critiquing mood, I REALLY need your help!
I've had this secret life on Wordpress and that secret life is thinking about moving to Blogger.
Here's the old blog: Wordpress Living Chronically
Here's the new blog: Blogger Living Chronically
Which do you like and why?
Thank you so much for your time and if you feel like joining me as a subscriber on the new blog, well then that would just be splendid. It's kinda lonely over there all by myself.
Tootles and keep on enjoying that weekend!

Your Favorite Time of Day

Happy Saturday to you.
As I sit, catching up on my favorite blogs and discovering new ones, I find myself thinking that this is my favorite time of day - that brief amount of "alone" time before the madness begins. When it's cooler outside, allowing the doors to be thrown open and the animals to happily roam onto the screened porch. It's when I sit finishing my coffee, planning the day ahead.

I Heart Project Runway
>> August 20, 2009

August 20, 2009 has more or less been pretty crappy personally. Sad, but true. The daughter has had a migraine all week (yes, ALL week) so we spend the better part of the day in the ER. THEN I headed out this afternoon to pick up my car and hand over $500 to the repair fella.
However, all is not lost. Happily, my girl's headache is gone and the car is repaired AND, AND, AND, Project Runway is back on tonight.
I heart Project Runway. Even if I have a sick kid and no money.
*UPDATE* Okay, so we watched the first challenge today and totally predicted the outcome. The winning design was SO cute and the loser was, well, quite lost. Don't you think? Shorts on the runway? Any runway? Come on (eyes roll). What DID you think? Puleeze chime in.

Too Many Quotes to Type (OR) One of the Silliest, Most Fun Movies of All Time...
>> August 18, 2009
I know, I know, it's too silly for reason. But I love Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We watched it yet again this past weekend and try as I might, there is no way to type the French Taunter sufficiently. If you've never seen the movie and are in the mood for a truly useless laugh, get it.
For your viewing pleasure, I present the French Taunter...

Studio Organization & Storage Solutions, Part II
>> August 10, 2009
Studio organization continued today. It feels so darned good to purge! I really didn't do much as far as the room layout. However, I was thrilled that my daughter wanted to trade two cumbersome cabinets for one tall, open bookcase. Included here are a few snapshots of the progress so far as well as storage tips.
I do want to make curtains or some sort of window treatment for color. Luckily, I found a rod at a thrift shop for only a few bucks, so now the only thing that awaits is for me to plant my butt in the chair and proceed with the sewing.
If you have an old easel, add it to a corner.
It helps to remind me to finish that painting!
Bookcase with LOTS of baskets for prettier storage...
Notice the cork boards in the back used with large clips & baggies,
then hung onto thumbtacks. Great for storing small items.
I've used a Pente gameboard to house loose gemstones...
Jars are always great for pretty, inexpensive storage...
Don't forget the personal touches. My dad, who was forever encouraging my artist endeavors always wanted to paint. After he retired he only made it as far as a paint-by-number set, which I cherish today.
Gumby? Don't know, I just love him. :)
As you may know, gobbing is one of my favorite activities.
Not on myself, on the bust.
Find old used displays in thrift stores to add great character to your space...
In addition to the curtains, I'm planning to make a skirt for the lower portion of the workbench to hide all of the yucky stuff. It's very easy, just attach the entire thing with peel & stick velcro...
Until next time...
Have a wonderful Tuesday!

A few thoughts on studios, decorating & organization...
Love, love, love the graters! Don't you?

I'm already using the clip idea with my gemstones.
It works like a charm.

New Studios and Old Studios and Settling In...
>> August 7, 2009

Recognize this picture? It's the full-sized version of my banner and I've always wanted to talk about it. Today is a good day to do that.
This is actually my previous studio in Virginia. It had a view of the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was the top story (really, I guess, the attic space) of a separate garage on our property. Hubby and son used the downstairs to store our tractor, bikes and house their "get away from the house" bike shop. From the very first time I walked onto that property, I knew we would have it. It was in my heart immediately. It will always be in my heart.
My space was completely unfinished with plywood floors. I acquired as many flat sheets as I could and stapled them to wood beams to create interior walls. I found old oriental rugs to cover the plywood floors. I used old, VERY old, furniture and shelves to house supplies and displays. During the fair-weather months, both doors were thrown open wide to create a breeze.
This picture shows one of the door locks. See the name? Yep, it was meant to be mine.
This is my new studio. It's a great room with terrific light. I really want to work with it to give it a degree of personality, my personality. Don't you want to put a stamp on your own space? That's what I'm looking to do here.
Right now, it's a bit blah...
Being a visual person, I crave inspiration by researching and studying studios on the internet, in magazines, and books. Here are a few:
Please, do tell...
Do you have a creative space?
What do you look to for inspiration?
