Time Off

>> December 30, 2009

I hope everyone is having a peaceful, fun, family-filled holiday season. I will return bright-eyed and bushy-tailed next week - well, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed is my goal anyway.

See you then!

Still happily playing with my scaled-down version of Photoshop - making lots of mistakes and thinking I will need the book!

Do you give yourself a Christmas present? I do, in some fashion, every year either with the money I get as a gift from someone or with my own.

In addition to the Photoshop, I've also ordered this tee shirt with the word "Peace" in Greek from Zosai on Etsy. The tees are all made from organic cotton and bamboo! I can't wait to get it.

What are you gifting yourself this year?

My Christmas present to myself was Photoshop Elements and I've been playing all morning. I'm like the proverbial kid in a candy shop! It's not the full version - which is well over $600.00, but I've heard that Elements will be more than enough and it's oh so true.

Oh boy!

Bestest Quotes Ever...

our new Christmas classic
and my favorite quotes:

"We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup."

"It's just like Santa's workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms... and everyone looks like they wanna hurt me..."

"First we'll make snow angels for two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookie-dough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle."

"I'm sorry I ruined your lives, and crammed eleven cookies into the VCR."

"Francisco! That's fun to say! Francisco. Frannncisco. Franciscooo."

"I think you're really beautiful and I feel really warm when I'm around you and my tongue swells up."

Do You Return to Your Favorites When Shopping on Etsy?

>> December 17, 2009

This question was posed on the Etsy forum last week and I was shocked at the number of people who add items to their favorite list, but don't return to those items when shopping.

After finishing my Christmas work this morning (YAY!) and perusing my 17 pages of favorites as money is literally burning a hole in my pocket, I thought that maybe we need to remember our favorites when shopping on Etsy.

Just a reminder.

A few of my "favorites"...

Pandora and Assembly Lines

>> December 15, 2009

The genius who invented your basic assembly line is my friend. So is the other genius who came up with Pandora. I'm hearting them both today. And I remember now why I love the whole "one-of-a-kind" thing.

Obsessing

...over purses!

The love of all things artsy has always been in my blood. The love of purses has been hanging around about, oh, fifteen years or so. Combine the two, add in old leather, fabric, buttons, trim, and a sewing machine and you've got yourself a bonified obsession. Not sure if this will burn out eventually, but I'm having a blast. I've made five so far and have sold three. Every time one sells, it's like fuel is added to the fire.

My latest two projects...

Wristlets & Totes & Wine

>> December 3, 2009

Remember when I mentioned that I tend to go into a frenzied creative state? Well, after traveling for several weeks, I am definitely in the stupor phase now.

The creative state is still there, but in a much calmer, focused form.

Remember the purse and tote I made? The tote has been sold...

It wasn't even for sale!

I considered this to be a good thing and, well...

I made a couple more.

Admittedly, I can't pass up a Goodwill now without running in to check for supplies.

Here's another tote.

On top of that, I have 28 bracelets to make by the 18th - I'm pacing myself and remaining calm. Christmas shopping may happen online this year.

In between working, I'm playing.

One more thing. This is my friend, Lynn, and I when we went to the wine tasting festival located at Thomas Jefferson's home in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Thomas wasn't able to make it.
