But seriously folks...
Allow me to ask a question this week. I'm having trouble with my macro images when I use my DSLR! Clearly, I'm still very inexperienced but my macros don't feel like true macros to me. I have my 50mm lens and the regular lens and the telephoto lens. I don't want to use the automatic macro mode. Is it possible for me to get a good macro shot? How???

Lori,
Your photos are lovely but I understand your desire to capture a macro. I hope one of your readers can offer some advice. I'm still using my iPhone, a DSLR is still in my future.
Cool macro shots!

Well speaking photographer like that sounded like "I made waffles with my shakalaka and topped them with calculus sauce." ....to me ...good Lord I am photogenically challenged!
I can't possibly be of any help!
Happy Sunday Lori - Have a great weekend!
Thank you for choosing my photo for the most clickable from last week!!! Cool. Your pic of the glass ball with bubbles is facinating. I hope you can get answers to your question. I don't have a DSLR camera, so I'm clueless.
I love the bubbles. :) I think you've been taking great macros. I loved the sole last week and your weed shots. I shoot my macros in A/V mode so that I can control the aperture. I usually set the aperture to 4 or 4.5 depending on what I'm shooting. A lower aperture blurs out more of the background. I love to use my macro lens to take pictures of the kiddo. It really makes her face pop out of the pictures.
I think you take fabulous macros, but I understand what you mean. I finally broke down and bought a macro lens. I'm still learning how to use it, so my macros still aren't what I was hoping, but they are closer to what I wanted.
Oh Lori, they are beautiful, I think that's the important thing...and you have brought us close, isn't that the essence of macro photography, to draw us near to things we might otherwise not notice?
Sorry, I have no answer to your question, but I looooooove your pics!
I think your macros are great and I find them fascinating!! It's all about learning and sharing and I love what you see through the lens.
For me, I use the macro setting. I get the best bokeh that way. If I'm not doing it in daylight though, I use manual settings. Most time though, I'm doing it in good light.
I am with Laura- bringing things close to see what we have been missing. When you find out please let us know. AND thank you for the opportunity to go macro!
