My Sketchbook: Watercolor Journaling

My Sketchbook: Watercolor Sketching | Studio Waterstone

Oh boy, I believe this is the longest stretch I've ever taken without blogging. If you read my previous post, you'll know why. Just a brief update before I commence with the watercolor jabber...

Last week I (finally) did the radioactive iodine therapy with absolutely no side effects - thank goodness. It was necessary, however, to keep my distance for a few days so I headed straight to the mountain cabin and quickly became a slug. I've read and painted, worn my pajamas for days and eaten lots of brownies. It's been pure torture.

Now for the painting...

I recently spotted an image of a turquoise mason jar, painted so beautifully in acrylic. It inspired the painting above. Since I've been trying to be more loose and colorful in style, that jar was the ideal subject.

Sure hope my sharing makes you want to break out the paints and go to town. I'll have more as the week goes on. As for now, I must go and eat another brownie.

Enjoy your day!

  4. Love, love, love your Mason jar ... capturing glass is difficult but you've totally nailed it, and the colour palette in that painting is really pretty yet also very natural :)
